War of the Three
notes by Kardan Verigio
Much like the Claim of the Bastard, the War of the Three was a refute as to the veracity of the claim made by the scion who held the throne. Unlike the Claim of the Bastard, the two would-be usurpers failed in their attempts. By the conclusion in 4162, Immara Eldstone held the throne, the only legitimate heir of her father Caldiverius Eldstone. Historical texts of the time spoke of some contention from a number of Houses due to her mother being the daughter of a Vyaldur Jarl.
Theosus Eldstone, cousin to Immara, was the first to lay claim that Immara was an illegitimate Empress, and began rousing Houses in the south. Shortly after Darrion Naveus started an insurrection in the east. Both roused the anger of southern Houses against the “northern barbarians” having claim to the throne.
Had the two joined forces, they may have had a chance against the Imperial Army. Because of their insistence on the legitimacy of their claims, both were defeated in turn. Theosus Eldstone was exiled to “never set foot upon Imperial territory again, under pain of death”, and Darrion Naveus perished in the Battle of Sacar when his forces were outnumbered three to one.
