“Trust the signs of the birds, and that of the North Star, for Eogon provides direction.”

He emerged from the darkness as a shining light that coalesced into the form of a man. It is said that he showed Marath to the place where he should construct his great solar forge. In sacred texts, he is often depicted as a servant of Marath, trusted to deliver his messages afar because he cannot lie.

While he only speaks the truth, it is often a truth that people do not wish to hear. Diviners often call upon him to reveal that which is hidden and to guide their decisions without emotional connection.

Sailors lost at sea will often beseech his aid as well as that of Ghesheya. They ask that he send them a sign of land, and Eogon sends his aid in the form of a bird, revealing that land is near. In darkest night, he will often part the clouds so that the lost may see the Northern Star and find their way.

The Great Cities of Saronae once boasted grand eyries high atop tall towers, bearing hundreds of messenger birds attended by priests of Eogon. The priests scribed messages and kept in constant communication with many other settlements across the Realm.

Appearance

In most depictions, the Guide appears as a tall, pale man with sharp features and limbs that look longer than they should be, his hair the color of fresh snow, and he wears a cloak the color of darkest ink, adorned in feathers.

He also takes the form of a great raven, bearing a roll of parchment in his mouth.

His symbol is that of a dark compass rose.

Followers

Those who dedicate themselves to Eogon seek to only speak the truth, despite how uncomfortable it may be. Scribes, soothsayers, and historians often venerate him.

Common Practices

Some that have received aid from Eogon in the past will wear a bird skull as a pendant on a necklace, and speak directly to it, believing that Eogon hears them.
