But in the wake of The Curse\, the warmth is no longer comforting. The heat lingers past its season. The air hangs thick and still. The fields rot rather than ripen. And what drifts in on the breeze is not the scent of grain and celebration… but the scent of the grave.    As the Veil frays and Remembrance draws near\, the Realm of the Living is visited by the dead. Echoes of the departed flicker back into being\, trapped in hollow loops of their former lives. The behavior of the Restless Dead is even stranger: their rabid hunger seems to have vanished. They act on an eerie\, silent impulse to march inexorably toward the North\, and they continue that march\, trampling anything in their path\, as if being called home. The unrelenting march North remains a mystery\, but it is undeniable that it somehow spells doom for any living who cross paths with the Dead march.    With the Veil so dangerously thin\, magic thrums with dark potency. It was during this exact season last year that a Wound in the Corruption\, created by a ritual gone awry\, allowed a True Darkborn to slip through. That nightmare still prowls the countryside\, carrying out its inscrutable designs. With rogue mages tempting fate\, the essence of death dancing at their fingertips\, the township of Wanderer’s Hope has begun to brace for what fresh horrors might be summoned.    Worse yet\, the lingering Scars of the cursed caravan ensnared within the Veil last year have begun to fester. Katala Komir\, one of the soul-bereft Rystarri refugees\, has shattered his bindings. Stripped of his morality\, the former assassin is driven purely by violent instinct and sadistic desire. He now stalks the night\, hunting creatures and townsfolk alike.    Beneath the town’s very cobblestones\, something ancient has bloomed from whispers into a song. Vey Harrow Thayedyn’s excavation of his family’s buried kingdom has unearthed more than stone and forgotten history. The deeper his archaeologists dig\, the more twisted his family’s past seems to become. A haunting chorus resonates through the earth\, shaking stone\, twisting flesh\, and driving perverse abominations to the surface to defend whatever is calling out from the deep.    Yet even under the weight of these supernatural threats\, mortal politics grind on.
